Here are some initial (not final) statistics, which show the Israeli war crimes against humanity, during the current Israeli genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, based on the reliable data reported by the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza:

By May 23, 2025, the initial death toll of Palestinians who have been killed by the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza Strip is 67,286+.   

This includes the accounted for deaths (53,822) and those who are still missing under the rubble (an estimate of at least 13,465+). 

By May 23, 2025, the documented injuries exceeded 122,382.

By May 23, 2025, according to news report, 970 Palestinians who were killed, 6,784 who were injured, and 12,138*, who were abducted by Israeli occupation forces in the West Bank, since October 7, 2023.

Note About the Missing Palestinians in the Gaza Strip:

On February 26, 2025, the Palestinian Center for Political and Development Studies announced that the number of the missing in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 14,000 people, including 2,000-3,000 held in Israeli occupation prisons, without releasing any information on their fate.

"وَمَنْ يَقْتُلْ مُؤْمِنًا مُّتَعَمِّدًا فَجَزَاؤُهُ جَهَنَّمُ خَالِدًا فِيهَا وَغَضِبَ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَلَعَنَهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُ عَذَابًا عَظِيمًا" (النِّسَاءُ ، 4: 93).

"إِنْ أَحْسَنتُمْ أَحْسَنتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ ۖ وَإِنْ أَسَأْتُمْ فَلَهَا ۚ فَإِذَا جَاءَ وَعْدُ الْآخِرَةِ لِيَسُوءُوا وُجُوهَكُمْ وَلِيَدْخُلُوا الْمَسْجِدَ كَمَا دَخَلُوهُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ وَلِيُتَبِّرُوا مَا عَلَوْا تَتْبِيراً ‎(الإسْرَاءُ ، 17: 7).

"Because of that, We decreed upon the Children of Israel that whoever kills a soul, unless for a soul, or for corruption in the land, it is as if he had killed humankind entirely" (The Holy Quran, Al-Ma-ida, 5: 32).

"And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him, and has cursed him, and has prepared for him a great torment" (Al-Nisa, 4: 93).

"If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, (you do it) to yourselves. Then, when the latter (final) promise came, they (your enemies) will sadden your faces, and to enter the Masjid (in Jerusalem), as they entered it the first time, and will destroy what they had taken over with (total) destruction (Al-Isra, 17: 7).

While brutal force has been used to create Zionist Israel and sustain it thus far, Zionist claims to Palestine are false. Actually, from the five thousand years of known written human history, there has been a continuous Palestinian-Canaanite presence in the Holy Land. Despite the Zionist false claims, the ancient Israelites ruled part of the land for only 85 years (during the reign of Prophets David and Solomon , peace be upon them, and Solomon's son).

 After that, the Egyptians conquered Palestine-Canaan in 925 BC, followed by Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans, before the Arab Muslim rule, starting from 636 AD.

By the Time Jesus, peace be upon him, started his mission, the three population groups of Canaanites, Palestinians, and Israelites were melted together in religion and language. Most of them became Christians when Constantine converted in 313 AD. Then, most of them became Muslims in the 7th and 8th centuries AD.

So, Palestinian Muslims, Christians, and Jews are the ones who have the right to claim descent from ancient Israelites, Palestinians, and Canaanites, not Zionists from other continents.

No matter what the Zionists and their supporters do, they cannot change the will of God, Who promised the Holy Land to Abraham and his descendants, basically the Palestinian Muslims and Christians.

No matter how much persecution and aggression the Zionists and their supporters inflict upon the Palestinian people, they will never be able to force them out of the Holy Land, which Allah, praise to Him, promised for them, and kept His promise ever since.

This is a necessary brief background to understand the US-Backed Zionist Israeli continuous wars against the Arab nation generally, and the Palestinian people in particular, which included the wars of 1948, 1956, 1967, 1978, 1982, the brutal crushing of the two Uprisings (1987-1993 and 2000-2004), 2009, 2012, 2014, 2021, and the current genocidal war on Gaza (Since October 7, 2023), which has culminated a blockade of Gaza since 2007. In addition, the Israeli occupation and apartheid regime launched so many covert operations, raids, and air strikes on many Arab states since 1948.

Gaza death toll surges to 53,822

GAZA, May 23, 2025 (WAFA) –

The death toll arising from the ongoing Israeli genocidal aggression on the Gaza Strip surged to 53,822 people, the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza reported on Friday.

The Ministry announced that the death toll and the toll of casualties as a result of the Israeli genocidal offensive on the war-torn Strip, which started on October 7, 2023, rose to 53,822 and 122,382, respectively.

They added that since Israel unilaterally ended the Gaza ceasefire agreement and resumed its aggression on the Strip on Tuesday, March 18, it has killed 3,673 and injured 10,341 others.

In the last 24 hours, the bodies of 60 slain Palestinians and 185 injured people were admitted to hospitals in the Gaza Strip.

Moreover, at least 10,000 people are unaccounted for, presumed dead under the rubble of their homes throughout the Strip.'

The Israeli aggression has also resulted in the forceful displacement of nearly two million people from all over the Gaza Strip, with the vast majority of the displaced forced into the densely crowded southern city of Rafa'h near the border with Egypt – in what has become Palestine’s largest mass exodus since the 1948 Nakba.

Erased from the Civil Registry: 11 martyrs from the Dughma family in a massacre in Khan Younus

Eleven Palestinians from a single family were martyred — erased from the civil registry — on Friday morning in a horrific new massacre committed by the Israeli occupation army in eastern Khan Younus, in the southern Gaza Strip.

Our correspondent reported that Israeli warplanes targeted the home of Al-Shaikh Ramadhan Al-Dughma in the town of 'Abasan, east of Khan Younus, resulting in the deaths of 11 people, including children and women, with others seriously injured.

Among the identified martyrs are: Do'aa 'Aadil Al-Dughma, Rami Sala'h Al-Dughma, Sala'h Ramadhan Al-Dughma, 'Alaa Ramadhan Al-Dughma, A'hmed Khaliee Al-Dughma, Naja'h Sala'h Al-Dughma, Ma'hmoud Khaleel Al-Dughma, and Iman Khaleel Al-Dughma.

The Israeli occupation army continues its intense targeting of civilians across all areas of the Gaza Strip for the 593rd consecutive day, escalating its war on civilians in full view of the world and amidst deafening silence.

During the past week, the Government Media Office reported that 2,200 families have been completely annihilated, resulting in 6,350 martyrs — these families have been entirely wiped from civil records.

It also said that more than 5,120 families have only one surviving member, having lost over 9,351 of their loved ones.

Four martyred in Dair El-Bala'h drone strike, dozens buried under rubble in Jabalya bombing

Four Palestinians were martyred on Friday morning in an Israeli drone strike targeting a group of civilians near Al-Mazra'a Street, south of Dair El-Bala'h in the central Gaza Strip. Local sources confirmed that the attack also wounded many others.

The drone airstrike came just hours after another deadly offensive on the northern Gaza Strip.

On Thursday evening, Israeli shelling targeted the home of the Dardouna family on the Jurn Street in Jabalya Al-Balad, killing at least four people and leaving over 20 trapped beneath the rubble.

Local sources said that Israeli occupation forces (IOFs) targeted the Dardouna family home which is a four-story building, adding that the voices of those trapped under the rubble could be heard.

Civil defense crews recovered four bodies and rescued six others but were forced to halt search operations due to a lack of heavy equipment.

Among the martyrs were Yasir Dardouna, Huda Dardouna, Mus'ab Dardouna, and 'Hamdi Dardouna.

Medical sources reported that 61 Palestinians were martyred across the Gaza Strip since dawn on Thursday as IOFs continued their intense military aggression.

The Israeli genocidal war, marked by systematic attacks on civilian areas and vital infrastructure, has now stretched into its 595th day, backed by US support and carried out amid widespread international silence.

The siege has severely limited humanitarian aid while the targeting of the remaining hospitals pushed the health sector in the war-torn coastal enclave to the brink of collapse.

At least four killed, others injured in Israeli strikes on Gaza

GAZA, May 23, 2025 (WAFA) —

At least four people were killed and several others injured, some critically, in a series of Israeli airstrikes targeting civilians and a vehicle in different areas of the Gaza Strip on Friday.

According to local sources, three Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a group of people in the Al-Saftawi Street area, located northwest of Gaza City.

In a separate incident, one Palestinian was killed and others were wounded when an Israeli airstrike hit a civilian vehicle in Al-Amal neighborhood, west of Khan Younus in the southern part of the territory.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 53,822 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 122,382 others injured.

Thousands of victims are feared trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency and civil defense teams due to Israeli attacks.

Israel's genocidal attacks continue unabated despite calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire and directives from the International Court of Justice urging measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Death toll from Israeli massacre on Jabalya home rises to 14; over 50 remain trapped under rubble

GAZA, May 23, 2025 (WAFA) –

The number of civilians killed late Thursday night in the Israeli massacre targeting the Dardouna family in the town of Jabalya in northern Gaza, has risen to 14, following the recovery of 10 more bodies, including three children, from under the rubble.

Additionally, eight other civilians were killed today in separate Israeli airstrikes across various areas of the Gaza Strip.

WAFA correspondent reported that rescue teams recovered today the bodies of 10 civilians, including three children, who were killed in the Israeli airstrike that targeted the Dardouna family home last night. The four-story building was housing members of the family and several displaced persons.

Four bodies were reportedly recovered immediately after the bombing of the Dardouna family home. More than 50 people remain trapped under rubble, as rescue teams face a total inability to reach them due to the absence of essential technical resources.

Three more civilians were killed and three others were injured after Israeli warplanes struck another home in the town of Jabalya.

In Khan Younus in southern Gaza, two civilians were killed in an Israeli strike targeting the Qizan Al-Najjar neighborhood. Rescue teams were unable to recover their bodies.

A civilian was also killed in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Hassanein family home on Al-Nazzaz Street in Al-Shuja'iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City. Another civilian was killed after Israeli warplanes shelled the Abu 'Awwad family home in Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. Additionally, one more civilian was killed in Israeli air raids that targeted a group of civilians on a rooftop in Al-Sawari'ha area south of the camp.

According to the WAFA correspondent, the Israeli military also bombarded residential buildings east of Jabalya refugee camp in northern Gaza.

Medical sources confirmed that 33 civilians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip since dawn today.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a genocidal war against the Gaza Strip, resulting in the killing and wounding of over 175,000 civilians, mostly children and women.

More than 11,000 people remain missing. The relentless aggression has led to the displacement of hundreds of thousands.

11 Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrike on home in Khan Younus, majority of victims are children

Eleven Palestinians were killed and others injured on Friday in an Israeli airstrike targeting a residential home in the town of 'Abasan Al-Jadeeda, east of Khan Younus in southern Gaza.

According to WAFA correspondent, the home belonged to Al-Dughma family. The majority of those killed in the strike were children, marking yet another massacre amid Israel’s ongoing genocidal assault on the Gaza Strip.

Several of the wounded were reported to be in critical condition. Emergency medical teams have so far been unable to evacuate all the injured to hospitals due to the intensity of the bombardment and the destruction caused by the strike.

The ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 2023 has so far resulted in at least 53,762 documented Palestinian fatalities, with over 122,197 others injured.

16 Palestinians killed, dozens injured in Israeli airstrikes across Gaza Strip

GAZA, May 23, 2025 (WAFA) —

At least 16 Palestinians were killed and dozens more injured in a series of Israeli airstrikes across different areas of the Gaza Strip early Friday morning, according to local sources and medical officials.

Ten people were reported killed and several others wounded in over five drone strikes that targeted the entrance to the city of Dair El-Bala'h in central Gaza. Eyewitnesses said that some of the victims were civilians attempting to assist the wounded when they themselves were struck.

In Gaza City, three more people, including a young girl, were killed when an Israeli warplane bombed an apartment near 'Abdul' Aal junction on Al-Jalaa Street.

In Khan Younus, two siblings were killed and their father seriously injured when an Israeli strike hit the Abu Akar family home in the western refugee camp area of the city.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces detonated a robot near al-Awda Hospital in northern Gaza, causing significant damage to hospital infrastructure and igniting a fire in the facility’s medicine storage area. Civil defense teams were prevented by Israeli forces from extinguishing the blaze.

Additional strikes in the town of 'Abasan Al-Jadeeda, east of Khan Younus, targeted the Dughma family home, resulting in more casualties, though the exact toll remains unconfirmed. Meanwhile, 32-year-old Antar Ma'hmoud Al-Raqab died from injuries sustained in an earlier Israeli strike on the town of Bani Suhayla, east of Khan Younus.

The escalation followed an earlier deadly airstrike late Thursday night in Jabalya, north of Gaza. Four members of Al-Dardouna family were killed and many others wounded or reported missing after Israeli aircraft bombed their four-story home, which also housed displaced people.

Rescue teams recovered the bodies of four victims and managed to save six people from the rubble. However, more than 50 individuals remain unaccounted for. Emergency crews warned that a severe lack of heavy equipment has brought search operations to a halt, leaving those trapped beneath the debris without hope of immediate rescue.

The Israeli occupation army continued on Friday its genocidal war on the Gaza Strip, now in its 595th day since the beginning of the aggression. The offensive was reignited 67 days ago after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reneged on a ceasefire agreement, emboldened by American political and military support amid unprecedented international silence.

The PIC correspondents reported that Israeli forces launched dozens of airstrikes, while the effects of blocking the entry of basic food supplies since early March have escalated, painting a grim picture of the famine Gaza’s population is facing.

Key developments:

Medical sources confirmed that 16 Palestinians were martyred today due to Israeli airstrikes across Gaza.

Injuries were reported after an Israeli airstrike targeted a home near the University College in southern Gaza City.

Four civilians were martyred Friday morning in a drone strike by Israeli forces near Al-Mazra’a Street south of Dair El-Bala'h, central Gaza.

Two children were martyred and others injured in a strike on an apartment in Khan Younus refugee camp: Hiba Nayif Ghazi Abu 'Akar and Mu'hammed Nayif Ghazi Abu 'Akar.

In another massacre, six aid convoy security personnel were martyred in an Israeli strike on Dair El-Bala'h. Victims included: Mouayyad Issa Baraka, Jabr 'Hasan Baraka, Wisam Khaleel Abu Samra, Ma'hmoud Nassar, and Ma'hmoud Mu'hammed 'Hammouda. Ambulances were then targeted directly as they attempted to evacuate the wounded.

Several children from the Abu 'Akar family were martyred in an airstrike on their home in Khan Younus.

Six martyrs and several wounded or missing in a strike on Al-Dardouna family’s home in Jabalya, north Gaza. Victims included: Yasir Sa'eed Dardouna (60), Huda Mustafa Dardouna, Mus'ab Mu'hammed Dardouna,' Hamdi Yasir Dardouna.

19 martyrs were confirmed in southern Gaza since Thursday dawn. Victims include: Mu'hammed Fawzi Mu'hammed Al-Najjar, 'Adnan Mu'hammed Fawzi Al-Najjar, Majid Mohammed Salman Al-Amour, Mohammed Suleiman Abu Qweider, Tareq Mohammed Hamdan Al-Bayouk, and Rahaf Munir Al-Aydi.

Four martyrs in an Israeli strike on a displaced persons’ tent in Asda’ city, northwest of Khan Younus: Basil Ashraf Khuraish, Ashraf Khuraish, Ahmed Ashraf Kuhraish, Sa'har Khuraish.

Ya'hya Mustafa Al-'Abadla was martyred in a drone strike on Salah al-Din Street, Khan Younus. Fatima Hassan Yassin Al-Najjar (38) was martyred in a strike in Al-Mawasi. Fadi 'Adnan Hussein was killed in a tent strike. Mu'hammed Yousuf Al-Bayouk, a child, succumbed to injuries from an earlier airstrike.

Civil Defense teams retrieved the bodies of Mara'h Ziyad Fujo and Saleem Mu'hammed Salim 'Abdeen from the Qizan Al-Najjar area.

Two martyrs, including the child Mu'hammed Waleed 'Hasan Abu Daqqa, were reported in another strike on a tent west of Khan Younus.

In central Gaza, 25 martyrs have been reported since Thursday dawn. Ten were killed in a strike on a displaced persons’ shelter near Al-Baraka water tank, Deir al-Balah. Victims include members of the Abul 'Husain family: A'hmed, Sham, Mu'hammed, Bisan, Hana, Siba, Ghassan, Mo'adth, Maisara, and Amina.

Abdullah Saleh Hassouna, 41, was martyred, and four others were injured (three children and a girl), in a strike on a home near Sayyid Qutb Mosque in Al-Nuseirat.

Abd Nawwaf Abu Hazeen was killed, and seven were wounded in a drone strike in Al-Nusayrat. Marwan Ayyash succumbed to wounds from a previous strike on his home in Al-Zawayida.

Three martyrs in a strike on the Abu Sabt family’s home in Al-Baraka, south of Dair El-Bala'h: Iman Ramadhan Suleiman Abu Sabt, Nada 'Abdullah Salama Sulayman, Fatima Mu'hammed Abu Shee'ha.

Mu'hammed 'Aadil Al-Dabbaji was martyred in a strike on a tent for displaced persons near Al-Salah charity, west of Dair El-Bala'h.

Dr. Zakariyya Ibraheem Al-Sinwar, the brother of late 'Hamas leader Ye'hya Al-Sinwar, succumbed to injuries from a previous strike on his tent above his destroyed home, joining his wife and children in martyrdom.

Five martyrs in a strike on Al-Barbarawi family’s courtyard in Al-Maghazi. Identified victims include: Mu'hammed Manal Al-Dabbaki, 'Hatim Barbarawi, 'Alaa Al-Barbarawi, Hashim Al-Barbarawi.

Nine martyrs in Gaza City since Thursday dawn, including five from a strike on the Bakheet family home on A'hmed Yaseen Street, Al-Saftawi area.

Death toll rises

The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported Thursday (May 22, 2025) that hospitals received 107 martyrs and 247 wounded in the past 24 hours due to the ongoing Israeli genocide campaign, bringing the cumulative toll over the past 19 months to 175,959 killed and injured.

Since the war resumed on March 18, 2025, 3,613 martyrs and 10,156 wounded have been documented.

Since October 7, 2023, total casualties stand at 53,762 martyrs and 122,197 injuries.

Illegal Israeli settlers set fire to Palestinian homes in Bruqeen

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers set fire to several Palestinian homes after storming the outskirts of the town of Bruqeen, west of Salfeet in the northern West Bank, on Thursday evening.

The settlers attacked the outskirts of the town and ignited fires in several homes, causing extensive material damage and widespread fires in the area.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that its crews treated eight individuals with burn injuries as a result of settlers burning homes in Bruqeen. All were treated on-site.

Video footage online showed fires erupting in multiple locations across Bruqeen.

Israeli occupation forces re-stormed the town on Thursday evening, just a few hours after they had withdrawn. The army stormed the town with a large number of military vehicles, closed internal roads, raided several homes, and began searching them.

Earlier in the day, Israeli forces had withdrawn from the towns of Bruqeen and the neighboring Kafr Al-Deek, after a nine-day military operation. The campaign included the assassination of a Palestinian youth, mass arrests, and the conversion of homes into military outposts, under the pretext of searching for the perpetrator of a shooting operation that resulted in the death of an Israeli settler and the injury of another.

The occupation army left behind widespread destruction in the homes it raided, in addition to devastating infrastructure and disrupting essential services, further exacerbating the suffering of residents and complicating their daily lives.

Last night, Israeli forces also raided the home of the family of martyr Na-il Samara, who was assassinated by Israeli forces last Saturday during their incursion into Bruqeen. They took measurements of the house in preparation for its demolition.

Last Saturday, the General Authority of Civil Affairs informed the Palestinian Ministry of Health of the martyrdom of Na-il Sami Abdul Ra'hman Samara, 36, who was killed by Israeli gunfire in the town of Bruqeen.

Israeli forces destroy large quantities of meat and poultry west of Salfeet

SALFIT, May 22, 2025 (WAFA) –

Israeli occupation forces today destroyed large quantities of meat and poultry at the western entrance to the town of Kafr Al-Deek west of Salfeet, according to local sources.

Sources told WAFA that Israeli soldiers intercepted a truck belonging to the Sartawi Slaughterhouse at the western entrance to the town, forcibly unloaded its cargo of meat and poultry, and destroyed it entirely.

This incident is part of a wider campaign of punitive measures carried out by the occupation forces against residents of Kafr Al-Deek, which include sealing off entrances, obstructing movement, and targeting commercial trucks and vehicles.

Illegal Israeli settlers demolish six tents and shelters near Yatta, south of Hebron

HEBRON, May 23, 2025 (WAFA) —

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers on Friday demolished six structures belonging to Palestinian residents east of the town of Yatta in the southern West Bank, according to a local activist.

Osama Makhamra, a media activist, told WAFA that colonists from the illegal settlement of Beni Hefer destroyed three tents and three makeshift shelters belonging to the Othman Al-Mahaniya family in the area northeast of Yatta.

Makhamra added that the structures had only recently been erected, following a legal ruling by an Israeli court in favor of the residents allowing them to rebuild.

Illegal Israeli settlement expansion underway as settlers fence off Palestinian lands in northern Jordan Valley

JORDAN VALLEY, May 23, 2025 (WAFA) –

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers began fencing off swathes of land today in the Ein al-Hilweh community in the northern Jordan Valley, a local official reported.

The head of the Al-Mali'h village council, Mahdi Daraghma, reported that the colonists have been carrying out fencing operations since last night on the western side of Ein al-Hilweh. He noted that a substantial area of the land is privately owned Palestinian land. The residents have ownership deeds, known as Tabu.

He added that the colonists intend to erect a barbed wire fence in the area, similar to those previously installed in other parts of Al-'Ain Al-Hilwa, effectively sealing off the land entirely.

The official in charge of the Jordan Valley file in Tubas Governorate, Mu'taz Bisharat, emphasized that these fencing operations would result in the total closure of the lands, with barbed wire barriers erected to obstruct Palestinian access to their agricultural fields and grazing areas.

This would facilitate the annexation of the lands in favor of nearby colonial outposts, which have been established illegally on adjacent Palestinian land.

Illegal Israeli settlers attack Palestinian vehicles south and west of Nablus

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian vehicles on Friday near the 'Awarta checkpoint, south of Nablus in the occupied West Bank, and the Sarra checkpoint to the west, according to local sources.

The sources reported that groups of colonists blocked Palestinian vehicles at the 'Awarta checkpoint, preventing them from passing. In a separate incident at the Sarra checkpoint, colonists threw stones at passing vehicles. No injuries or material damage were reported at the time of publication.

Illegal Israeli settlers steal over 30 sheep in Masafer Yatta, south of Hebron

HEBRON, May 23, 2025 (WAFA) —

A group of the armed illegal Israeli settlers stole more than 30 sheep early Friday from a Palestinian resident in Masafir Yatta region, located south of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, in the latest incident of escalating settler violence aimed at displacing local communities.

Osama Makhmara, a local media activist, said that the colonists broke into the sheep pen of Ashraf Al-Amour in Khirbet al-Rakeez, a hamlet in Masafir Yatta, and carried out the theft late at night. Surveillance cameras in the area captured footage of the theft.

The colonists, armed and operating in groups, have intensified their attacks in the area, particularly since the beginning of Israel’s war on Gaza. Residents report an organized pattern of assaults involving livestock theft, property damage, and direct attacks on farmers and herders.

Multiple similar thefts have been reported recently in Masafir Yatta. In some cases, colonists have shot at or stoned livestock, damaged agricultural equipment, and destroyed property—all part of a broader strategy to force Palestinian residents off their land to make way for settlement expansion.

Illegal Israeli settlers torch homes and vehicles in Bruqeen, central West Bank; eight injured

SALFIT, May 23, 2025 (WAFA) —

A group of the illegal Israeli settlers, under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, carried out a terror attack last night on the town of Bruqeen, in the central West Bank province of Salfeet, setting fire to homes and vehicles and injuring several Palestinian residents.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that its teams treated eight people for burn injuries sustained during the arson attacks. All injuries were treated at the scene.

According to local sources, a group of colonists stormed the Baqqa’an neighborhood on the outskirts of the town, where they torched approximately five homes and five vehicles belonging to residents. The assailants also pelted other homes with stones, causing panic among families, especially women and children.

The destruction varied between total and partial damage. In response, residents broadcast urgent calls for help through mosque loudspeakers in efforts to contain the fires and protect the community.

Israeli occupation forces, which had briefly withdrawn from Bruqeen earlier in the day, returned in large numbers later in the evening. They blocked roads, raided several homes, conducted searches, and detained a child, Ayman 'Omar Sanad.

Incidents of violence perpetrated by Israeli colonists against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank have sharply increased in recent years, drawing condemnation from international human rights organizations and UN officials. These attacks—often carried out with the tacit or active support of Israeli forces—include the torching of homes, vehicles, farmland, and olive groves, as well as physical assaults and the killing of civilians.

Human rights groups, including B’Tselem and Human Rights Watch, have documented a pattern of impunity in which colonists rarely face accountability for their actions. World Health Assembly adopts two key resolutions in support of Palestine

GENEVA, May 23, 2025 (WAFA) —

The World Health Assembly, the governing body of the World Health Organization (WHO), has adopted two important resolutions in favor of the State of Palestine, marking a significant advancement in its international standing and a renewed focus on the critical health crisis in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.

The first resolution grants Palestine full accession to the International Health Regulations (IHR), a framework of legal instruments that govern global health security, especially in emergency response and pandemic preparedness. The resolution, submitted by the State of Palestine, received overwhelming support with 112 countries voting in favor, two (Hungary and Israel) voting against, and 19 abstaining.

With this decision, Palestine will now be treated as a full party to the IHR, granting it access to all related technical and emergency support mechanisms provided by the WHO. Though Palestine has had an official point of contact with the organization since 2010, this move significantly enhances its ability to coordinate health responses, benefit from global health resources, and better protect its population during crises.

The IHR were adopted in 2005 and came into force in 2007. This step represents a major milestone in strengthening Palestine’s role in global health governance and emergency cooperation.

The Assembly also passed a second resolution titled “Health Conditions in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem,” with 114 countries voting in favor, two opposing (Hungary and Israel), and 15 abstaining. The vote took place in the presence of Palestinian Health Minister Dr. Majid Abu Ramadhan and WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

The resolution addresses the severe and worsening health crisis in the occupied territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip, which has been under a full Israeli blockade and subjected to repeated military assaults. It calls for the immediate lifting of Israel’s blockade and for unimpeded access to humanitarian and medical aid.

The resolution also stresses the need to uphold international humanitarian law, protect medical facilities and personnel, and end repeated attacks on healthcare infrastructure.
